An 8-year-old girl is missing a plug of hair. Her parents think she's being bullied because of their sexual preference.
"I don't know if its a hate crime or not," said the child's mother, who did not want to give her name but did allow our cameras to show her face.
"It led up to them calling her gay because she has two moms," she added.
Her little girl says a classmate cut her hair. She fears it's because she has two mommies. The child attends Converse Elementary School in Judson ISD.
"This is not right," said the parent. "She continues to get bullied. They are supposed to be innocent and not have to worry about what's going to happen next."
KENS 5 contacted Judson ISD for comment. Spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor writes that "the administration at Converse met with the parents about the girl's hair being cut. The girl who cut [her] hair is her best friend and she cut her own hair and then cut [the girl's]."
The district also says that "the girls were talked to about playing with scissors. Bullying was never brought up. No other issues were brought up. The parents have not shared any of this with the administration. This is the first they've heard of the bullying claims. The administration has informed the family that [their daughter] will be moved to another class at their request."
In the meantime, the girl's family says their daughter has been afraid to tell on the bullies because she did not want to lose their friendship.
"She's been depressed," says the parent. "She used to love going to school."
"Everybody started making fun of her hair. Then they started calling her a boy and all kinds of names," added the parent.
