TERRELL HILLS -- Early morning joggers and walkers were the first to see the damage caused by a vandal -- or vandals -- in the Terrell Hills neighborhood.

Terrell Hills police said about 16 vehicles had windows shot out sometime between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday.

Mark Trevino, who lives on Wiltshire Avenue, didn’t even know he was hit until he talked to police.

“The officer was taking a report from a lady across the street and I stopped and told him, 'Hey, I don’t want to interrupt but a window was shot out down the street,'" he said. "And that’s when he informed me a bunch of windows had been shot out. So I quickly went back to my house to check my truck and I had two windows shot out.”

Police said the damage was widespread throughout Terrell Hills. Canterbury Hill and Vandiver Road were among some of the other streets targeted.

Terrell Hills police Chief Greg Whitlock said it may be hard to catch the suspect or suspects. He said the vandal or vandals likely targeted the car windows from a moving vehicle, without even stopping or getting out.

“It’s hard to catch them ... unless you just happen to come across them and stop them," he said. "Other than that, were investigating and hope to get some leads."

Trevino also hopes parents in the neighborhood will reach out to their kids for answers. He suggested they take a second to look into their kids' bedrooms to see if they have some type of BB gun.

"And parents should know which kids were out past 1 a.m. last night," he said.
