SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- OCI Solar Power is moving its headquarters to San Antonio and is partnering with the city for a solar project that will power an estimated 80,000 homes.
CPS Energy announced the deal Wednesday. The nation's largest municipally owned utility said the partnership with OCI will bring solar manufacturing plants to San Antonio and more than 800 new jobs.
The deal calls for a 25-year purchased power agreement to provide 400 megawatts of solar energy.
OCI Solar Power was formed in 2009 and is currently based in Atlanta. Its parent company is South Korea-based OCI Co., a chemical company.
Construction of the first solar facility in San Antonio is expected to begin in 2013.
