SAFD battled a blaze at the Chips for Children Foundation located on the 2800 block of Woodcliffe Saturday at 2 a.m.
Chips for Children are known for holding poker games for charity.
“It’s tough because everything we do is for charity” said Zenas Philcher of the foundation.
“We try to rebuild playgrounds; we try to do good things. Last Christmas we delivered toys to many different hospital rooms,” Philcher said. “It’s a huge set-back for the charity group.”
The building was a total loss and all of their equipment, paperwork, and members’ information were destroyed in the fire.
All charity events have been canceled indefinitely because the group has no other place to go.
