San Antonians converged outside the Alamo on Sunday morning to reflect on the 9/11 tragedy 10 years after the terrible attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center.
Representatives from nearly all branches of the military, law enforcement and public safety officials commemerated the anniversary with a series of speeches and prayer. "Where were you?" was the underlying message as attendees reflected on the tragic day in American history.
The ceremony was guided by updates from ground zero, as if the disaster was reoccuring in real time 10 years later. Hundreds bowed their heads in memory of those who died and in honor of police officers, firefighters and emergency crews who fearlessly rushed into the burning buildings.
A large American flag, supported by two San Antonio fire trucks, provided a backdrop to an actual piece of the World Trade Center. "Where were you?"
