The River Walk was aglow Thursday night with a myriad of bright colors beaming from over a million lights strung from trees along with river. It's a spectacle that draws visitors downtown every holiday season, only this year the display is much more green.

Not glowing green, but conserving energy green. The city has converted 85,000 incandescent lights to more than 1.76 million light-emitting diode (LED) lights. The enhanced lighting allows the city to use 20 times more lights on the River Walk while still using less and half the energy than burned up by the incandescent lights. LED lighting is also expected to last 10 years in comparison to the old bulbs, which were replaced annually.

The city offered a sneak peek at the lights Thursday night. See the River Walk in all its glowing glory at the Ford Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 25 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, visit www.TheSanAntonioRiverWalk.com or call (210) 227-4262.
