San Antonio police say a 16-year-old admitted to killing a woman he was living with on the city's northeast side.
Police were called to the home in the 13500 block of Coleridge Wednesday afternoon where they found 63-year-old Adriana Carrillo Terry lying on the bathroom floor bleeding from multiple stab wounds to the abdomen.
Terry had been stabbed with a butcher knife and had also suffered severe head injuries.
She later died at the hospital.
The arresting officers said during the initial investigation the teen walked up to them and later admitted to the crime. The juvenile allegedly told officers he wanted to "make his dad proud of him."
According to the police report, it was after he was booked that the teen made the comments about his father.
When asked by an investigator why he had said that the teen allegedly responded by saying he had done it because he loved his father, but that he had acted on his own.
Just before noon Thursday the juvenile wrapped up his first court appearance.
"I'm going to find probable cause for the offense of murder, " Judge Carmen Kelsey said.
She ordered the 16-year-old to be held in custody.
Prosecutors said they expect to formally charge the teen with murder. His next court appearance is in two weeks.
