A local woman thought she was helping a longtime friend. That friend left behind child pornography. She says one of the victims was her own daughter.
San Antonio police are still reviewing the evidence in the case, trying to identify the victims in about 45 photos. They are urging other victims to come forward.
The charging document says 55-year-old Wayne Hatchell would "play a game" with his alleged victims.
The woman, whose identity is being protected, says she recently kicked Hatchell out of her home after she caught him stealing. She said she has known the suspect for ten years, so when he was down on his luck, she offered him her couch.
The woman said that in around 2004, Hatchell would spoil her daughter with toys. He would babysit the child, and that's when the sexual assault allegedly occurred.
"This pedophile is narcissistic and a sociopath," she said.
Last week, the woman found two flash drives Hatchell had left behind. She almost threw them away, but decided to recycle them. She says that's when she found the disturbing photos.
"These people are real monsters, the monsters you see on TV are costumes. People like him are real monsters. They're the ones that steal our children's souls," the woman said.
San Antonio police have made contact with another victim and they say it's possible this case could become federal.
"Many time these people that are into this sort of thing are really good at masking their true feelings and they're able to endear themselves many times to people with children. It's something that they prey upon," said Sgt. Javier Salazar of the San Antonio Police Department.
Hatchell was arrested in Williamson County and transferred to the Bexar County Jail on Thursday.
He is being held in lieu of a $125,000 bond.
