A husband is under arrest for aggravated assault after he allegedly attacked his wife - not with a gun or a knife - but with his PT Cruiser.
According to the police report, 56-year-old Dale Eddington and his wife got into a heated argument in their home on the city's east side at around 10 p.m.Thursday.
She walked out, wanting to get away. But, according to a witness, Eddington came down the street in his car, hopping the curb and onto the sidewalk to strike her down.
She ended up flying over the top of the car and then landed on the pavement in the 1100 block of Iowa.
Witnesses told police that Eddington got out of his car and dragged his wife, who at the time had ended up on the street, back to the curb before he took off.
Now the hunt is on for the husband.
"It was not too long after that that we found the suspect, and he was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon," says SAPD's Sgt. Chris Benavides. "The reason he was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is because he used that vehicle as a deadly weapon trying to run her over."
According to the police report, Eddington told investigators he had been drinking and using drugs.
His wife was taken to the hospital, but refused treatment and left.
Authorities say Eddington's wife has reported her husband to police on several occasions prior to this latest incident.
