A detective with the San Antonio Police Department was arrested in Wilson County at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
Detective Raymond Roberts is now facing charges of assault with bodily injury.
The Wilson County Sheriff's Office and SAPD are launching separate investigations into the circumstances surrounding the case.
Roberts was still in custody at Wilson County as of Saturday afternoon. His bond has been set at $3,000.
According to SAPD, Roberts, a 24-year-veteran of the force, will be placed on administrative duty pending results of the internal investigation.
