San Antonio police are searching for a killer who murdered a man during a family barbecue.

The family had gathered Thursday evening outside their apartment at the Palms Apartments in the 3700 block of East Commerce.

Police say around 7 p.m. an argument broke out between two men. One of the men, described as a black man in his 20s, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the other.

According to investigators, 42-year-old Daniel Goodwin died in front of his family.

"I'll just say based on what we know at this point, it may have started as something trivial - you know,  something not real serious and got out of hand is what it looks like," said SAPD's Lt. Scott Bell.

Witnesses say the suspect  fled the scene in a white four-door Toyota with only three tinted windows.

Police also say they know who the suspect is but do not know his whereabouts.

The gun used was picked up by police at the scene but they do not know if the suspect is armed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the SAPD.
