SAN ANTONIO - A Corpus Christi man is dead, a suspected burglar is in jail and another suspect is on the run.
According to San Antonio police reports, Benito Garza led police on a chase on Friday night after he was caught breaking into a home on Sagamore Street on the city's southwest side.
Police say Garza made it to Loop 410 and Old Pearsall Road, where he cut through a Shell gas station and turned south onto the north-bound lanes of the highway.
Police discontinued the chase but continued to monitor the suspect's location.
Almost immediately, Garza hit a car and motorcycle. He stopped his car and then ran off, according to police.
Police caught up to Garza as he was climbing a fence. According to police, Garza was in possession of a shotgun when they caught him.
Police said there were two victims on the motorcycle. The driver, Pedro Tenorio, was killed instantly. Passenger Roxanne Tenorio was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
According to police reports, an officer performed CPR on Tenorio at the scene of the accident.
Garza was booked for evading arrest, failure to stop and render aid, aggravated robbery and murder.
Police say there was another suspect with Garza who managed to escape.
