SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police are waiting for autopsy results, but believe a woman was hit and killed by an 18-wheeler Tuesday night along the frontage road at I-35 S. near Fischer Road.
Authorities found a purse but will wait on the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office to identify the victim. They said the woman was walking in the right lane of the access road.
Police said the driver of the semi-truck stopped and realized he'd hit a person. He was driving the truck-tractor portion of the 18-wheeler.
Several other vehicles hit the body but did not stop. Police said they likely didn't realize they'd hit a human.
The fatal pedestrian accident happened just before 8:30 p.m.
