A boatload of city and community leaders from Fort Worth will travel to Galveston this weekend for the commissioning of the USS Fort Worth. The new littoral combat ship (LCS) is longer than a football field, but can fly through the water like a jet ski. It and others like it are designed to operate within a hundred miles of shore and can quickly be changed for multiple missions, from anti-mine to anti-terrorist.
