The Jolly Joeys, San Antonio's very own clown troupe, want to make you laugh. In their over-sized pants, painted faces and cherry red noses, the clowns goofed around on stage at the Witte Museum on Sunday, July 29, 2012, in celebration of National Clown Week. Yes, National Clown Week. Sorry all you coulrophobes (someone with an unusual fear of clowns), Clown Week really does exist. President Richard Nixon declared National Clown Week the first week of August back in 1970. The Jolly Joeys celebrated a few days early with face painting, balloon animals, hat making and a zany clown show. The jokes and shticks apparently weren't too corny for the adults crowd, either, as moms and dads exchanged knee slaps and grins throughout the show.
