SAN ANTONIO -- Captain Brad Mills of the Northside ISD Police Department is on administrative leave pending the outcome of a full investigation, the district said Monday.
He's accused of failing to properly document an incident involving an accidental discharge back in 2009. Mills has been with the department for two decades.
The incident in 2009 took place at Northside ISD Police headquarters. The officer was cleaning his weapon when it accidentally discharged.
Reports indicate the bullet traveled through the office wall and hit a parked car outside.
"It's also important to know that these are only allegations and there have been no disciplinary actions taken," said Pascual Gonzalez, the district's spokesperson.
Pascual said in May that another officer was terminated for violating policies that govern the unholstering of a weapon inside a school. That incident happened at Jordan Middle School.
"Having two discharges of weapons certainly can raise an eyebrow and make people concerned, but just know that we take these incidents very, very seriously and we're going to get to the bottom of it," Gonzalez said.
The Northside ISD Police Department has 90 officers. The officer who was recently terminated could not be reached for comment.
