As neighborhoods throughout San Antonio get ready for National Night Out on Tuesday, people living in Northeast Bexar County say their neighborhoods are in rough shape.

"Nobody buys property out here because they know what it is. When I bought I came from Illinois, I didnt know what I was getting into," says Camelot II resident James B. Triplett.

County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson says if more people got involved in community meetings and events like "National Night Out", a lot of the issues facing his precinct would go away.

"If you ride through it you see some of the areas that are disturbing. You can also attend a neighborhood meeting and say 'what an impressive array of folks,'" says Commissioner Adkisson.

Adkisson and other county leaders will hold a press conference Tuesday at 10 a.m. to discuss ways of cleaning up neighborhoods on the northeast side of San Antonio.

The press conference will be held on the Fifth Floor of the Paul Elizondo Tower.

As neighborhoods throughout San Antonio get ready for National Night Out on Tuesday, people living in Northeast Bexar County say their neighborhoods are in rough shape.

Triplett pointed to a nuisance letter left in the door frame of a partially burnt out townhouse that is currently vacant.

"Kind of stranded on an island, but no one would come out and help. Trash all around but I didn't have a boat," says Triplett, who adds that part of the problem is that his neighborhood is in an unincorporated part of San Antonio.

Down Walzem Road in Camelot I, Valerie Lee walks her kids home from Camelot Elementary School and Ed White Middle School.

She makes an effort to walk them to and from school every day, despite being partially blind.

"When you overlook something like that, then something bad can really happen, especially with kids," says Lee.

Lee says her biggest concerns are pedophiles and drug dealers living in her neighborhood.

Camelot I and II are part of Precinct 4 in Bexar County.
