Thousands of pets and their owners made an appearance at the San Antonio Pet Expo.
The Alamo City had never hosted the expo before, but organizers say San Antonio is a pet-loving place.
The main reason for the event was to find homes for animals and encourage owners to spay their pets.
More animals are being dropped off than adopted.
"With the economic downturn we just feel that there are just so many animals in need of good homes," said Martin Jordan of Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare, which participated in the event. "And there aren't enough fosters or homes for them to go."
Though not only traditional pets were in show, dogs were the only ones performing tricks for the crowds.
The event was produced by Amazing Pet Expos.
