SAN ANTONIO — A special delivery for one couple came at a unique date: Dec. 12, 2012 -- or 12/12/12.
Baby Layla Dehlia was born at the Children's Hospital of San Antonio by cesarean section at 8:02 a.m., weighing 7 pounds and 3 ounces.
"We've been waiting for this moment and it finally came," Elainie Medina said as she held her beautiful new daughter.
It was a very special day for Albert Lozano and Elainie Medina, who have been together for sic years. Layla is their first.
"As soon as I saw her I heard her cry," said Lozano, who took plenty of pictures of the newborn daughter.
The baby was not expected her for another few days, but baby Layla was ready to be born.
While the date us special for both parents, they said Layla is their miracle gift. Lozano said December had been a gloomy month since he lost both of his parents.
"Now that (Layla) is here, everything just changed," he said. "She's a miracle baby to us."
It won't be for another 89 years -- on Jan. 1, 2101 -- until the next time the calendar lines up in such a way.
