A new class of cadets graduated from the San Antonio Police Training Academy on Friday at the Carver Cultural Center.

Chief William McManus met privately with the cadets just hours before they were scheduled to walk across the stage.

He gave them a few words of wisdom about hitting the pavement to patrol.

"When you hit the street, one thing I want you to remember and I don't want you to ever, ever forget this, keep this filed in the back of your brain and don't ever forget it: You are a representative of not just this police department, but you're representatives of the city," said McManus. "And  you'll come in contact with a lot of people."

The chief  also told the new grads he was proud of them for making it through the academy.
