HOUSTON — The Coast Guard had to rush to the rescue Tuesday after a fishing boat started taking on water.
The boat, called the “Meat Hog,” was five miles off Freeport when the captain made the mayday call.
“Mayday, mayday, mayday, this is the Meat Hog. We are currently taking on water. We will be afloat for possibly three to four minutes,” he said.
The Coast Guard helicopter pulled four men to safety. They were not seriously injured.
There was no word on what caused the boat to take on water.
