Willie Marshall came to Bexar County to live with his girlfriend on Halloween morning. Less than 24 hours later, police say he had been murdered.

The 32-year-old Louisana native was the alleged victim of a beating death in the northeast-side residence that he was moving into.

A police warrant says Marshall had been drinking all day on Oct. 31. Marshall, his uncle, his girlfriend and Willie Monroe went out to a bar around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. By 1:30 a.m., Marshall was dead.

According to officials, when deputies arrived at the home in hte 7500 block of Oak Chase, victim was lying face up with visible abrasions to his face, as well as bruising to his torso.

Marshall's girlfriend reportedly told investigators her boyfriend shoved her because he'd been drinking. Investigators said Monroe intervened but went too far.

The suspect reportedly started hitting and kicking the drunk victim. The warrant said Marshall's girlfriend begged him to stop. She and the victim's uncle left the apartment. The woman said when she returned, Marshall was unresponsive. She called 911.

Investigators said they also have witnesses who heard the attack over the phone. Among the things Monroe allegedly said was, "Get up. Get up. You ain't sleep."

The warrant said an autopsy revealed the victim's death was by homicide. The arrest document said the death examination shows Marshall died from blunt force injuries, including broken ribs and a ruptured liver.

Monroe was arrested on a charge of murder Wednesday afternoon. He's being held in the Bexar County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
