A local man learned firsthand how deadly guns can be.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday night, police were called to a home in the 200 block of Briggs on the south side, where shots were reportedly fired. When they arrived, they found a 25-year-old man had been shot in the head.

The victim had bought the gun at a pawn shop on Saturday, officials said, and was playing around with it at a friend's home when the gun went off. The man died in the incident.

The Medical Examiner's office has not released the man's identity yet. Police are still investigating the incident.
