One man is dead and the other was en route to jail after their car flipped into a Bexar County creek.
The crash happened at Shaenfield Road and Canterhorse Bluff on San Antonio's far northwest side.
Deputies received the call just before 1:15 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found two men trapped inside the vehicle.
Deputies believe the 26-year-old driver hit a concrete median, sending the car into a creek.
Wading into water chest-deep, it took deputies and emergency crews an hour to rescue the victims.
The driver survived by using an air pocket inside of the vehicle. The passenger did not survive.
Bexar County authorities have not determined whether the passenger died from the crash or drowned as a result of the accident.
The driver was taken to University Hospital.
A combination of speed and alcohol was suspected to be the cause of the crash.
Authorities said the driver is facing intoxication manslaughter charges, a second-degree felony in Texas.
The two men's identities have not been released, but it's believed both live in the area.
