An apartment maintenance man is accused of stealing jewelry from a unit in the complex where he works.
According to his arrest warrant, Henry Buentello, 61, had only worked a week at the Union Park Apartments on the city's south side when a woman noticed jewelry was missing from her apartment.
San Antonio police said Buentello had recently been to the victim's apartment to check on her air conditioning unit, and shortly after that visit, she noticed her jewelry started disappearing.
Investigators said Buentello used a spare key from the manager's office to enter the victim's apartment several times.
Police were able to track the jewelry to several nearby pawn shops.
Buentello confessed to the theft when questioned by investigators, police said.
Police said Buentello also wrote an apology letter to the victim.
Buentello was booked into the Bexar County Jail on $15,000 bond.
