SAN ANTONIO -- A man was hospitalized after squeezing his car under a cable divider and crashing head on with a pickup truck early Friday morning.

Emergency crews had shut down the westbound lanes of Loop 1604 near La Cantera Parkway following the accident that occurred just before 6 a.m.

The roadway was reopened to traffic around 7:10 a.m.

The driver of the Corvette, who police identified as Leyland Lowe, was allegedly driving east on Loop 1604 when he lost control, crossed the median and struck the pickup truck.

Lowe was taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries following the crash, while the driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

Police said slick roads and "intoxicants" likely caused the wreck.

Lowe was cited for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
