A 24-year old man is behind bars for allegedly beating is ex-girlfriend and holding her captive for two days.

Joe Acevedo was arrested over the weekend in connection to the assault of his ex-girlfriend.

According to court documents, Acevedo was dropping off their son when the alleged attack happened.

Investigators say he was trying to talk about getting back together but she refused to reconcile.

He allegedly followed her into her apartment and began punching, slapping and choking her.

Sheriff deputies say Acevedo then told the victim he would stay at her apartment and would not allow her to leave or make phone calls until her bruises disappeared.

Two days later the victim was able to call her sister for help.

According to his arrest affidavit,  Acevedo was only recently released from jail after being arrested for assaulting the same victim in October 2011.

Acevedo is currently being held in the Bexar County Jail on $50,000 bond.
