An arrest warrant alleges Robert Edward Dudley has some car problems.

The 46-year-old's issues aren't related to an overheated radiator or air conditioning. Instead, San Antonio police said Dudley stole an out-of-state man's money for a luxury sports utility vehicle and would not return the cash.

Dudley was arrested on a charge of theft ranging $20,000 to $100,000. A $20,000 bond has been posted for his release from the Bexar County Detention Center.

The warrant said a business owner in Brooklyn, N.Y., bought a 2008 black Lexus LX570 from Dudley earlier this year. The alleged victim who runs a business named  A M Inter Trade reportedly gave the San Antonio car dealer two payments of $34,000 in February and March. However, police said the man never got his SUV.

In fact, investigators said following numerous months and attempts to get the Lexus, the victim filed a criminal complaint. Police said that's when Dudley gave the man back $34,000. According to the warrant, the Brooklyn businessman continued to pursue the rest of his money with no success. So Dudley was arrested.

Police said Dudley had a long history of committing thefts against people who live out of state. The warrant said he was being investigated by at least four other SAPD detectives for similar cases.
