The Olympics may be over, but a local young man is still going for the gold.

Deiontae Day of Universal City is one of seven finalists in the country competing in the Dr. Pepper/ RC Sonic Skate-Off.

More than 300 skating carhops from across the country submitted videos of their skating and carhop skills for the national competition.

Deiontae, who is a Judson High School graduate, is the only finalist from Texas. He will compete Friday in Oklahoma for a chance to win a gold, silver or bronze medal.

Even though the competition is on Friday the winner won't be announced until September 12  when Sonic holds it's national convention here in San Antonio.
