Hotel workers at the Grand Hyatt in downtown San Antonio are protesting staff cuts and reduced hours at the hotel chain.
Organizers say hotel workers have endured the cuts and an increase in the number of on-the-job injuries, yet the Hyatt and other hotels have refused to let them organize a union.
They claim wealthy hotel owners are taking unfair advantage of workers, many of which reportedly live in poverty.
While protester George Ibarra says there haven't been a lot of layoffs in San Antonio, the group is demanding a fair method of organization across the country.
Ibarra says picketing will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a few speakers and a planned surprise.
San Antonio is one of 17 cities where hotel workers are holding demonstrations.
