Funeral arrangements set for long-time Schertz mayor

SCHERTZ -- Harold "Hal" Baldwin, one of the state's longest serving mayors, died from heart complications on Friday. He was 76.

Baldwin had been the mayor of Schertz since 1994. Before that, he served on City Council after first being elected in 1983.

Visitation will be held at the Schertz Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the civic center at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, in San Antonio, with full United States Air Force Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Hal Baldwin Public Service Scholarship, c/o City of Schertz, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, TX 78154.
