Flood lights cited in roof fire at northeast-side motel

SAN ANTONIO -- Guests at a northeast-side motel were forced out of their rooms late Tuesday after the roof caught fire.

San Antonio firefighters said the blaze was caused by flood lights that roofers left on after completing work at the Delta Inn on Whirlwind near I-35.

The fire was quickly extinguished around 10:30 p.m., firefighters said, but not before flames damaged nearly 10 percent of the roof.
