Thank goodness for good neighbors. One in the 700 block of Edgebrook may have saved homeowners much more than the $20,000 in damages that resulted from a Friday morning fire.
No one was home when a neighbor reported the fire shortly before 11 a.m. One caller said smoke was pouring from the eaves of the north-side home located not far from West Avenue and Basse.
But authorities said the fire's source was an electric panel behind the refrigerator.
No injuries were reported.
