SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio's north side saw a column of flames Sunday afternoon, after a cell phone tower caught fire.
The leaning tower forced people to evacuate the area near Austin Highway and Rittman.
The incident sparked after telephone crews were in the middle of wielding the nearly 120-foot cell phone tower. All of a sudden a wiled caused a spark that ignited a fire inside the tower.
Crews evacuated about 25 people from a boarding home and neighboring businesses, including Ron Bollinger's tattoo store, about 10 feet away.
Fire officials said the fire in the tower burned itself out, allowing it to cool enough to stand straight again. Everyone evacuated has since been allowed to return, and traffic also resumed shortly after.
