SAN ANTONIO-- Erica Orr has four children and never uses physical punishment, so why would a teacher think she could yank her daughter by the arm?
"If I don't speak up for my daughter who will?" questioned Orr. "I just don't want this to happen to other children."
Orr said on Thursday a substitute teacher yanked her 6-year-old daughter, Madison, by the arm several times. She said she took a photo of the bruising and had the child's doctor document the injury as well. She said the doctor said the bruise was clearly a thumb print.
"What frustrates me the most is that somebody deemed it necessary to put their hands on my child without any consent, without even letting me know," said Orr.
A spokesperson with the East Central ISD confirmed a police investigation is underway. The substitute teacher has been removed from the classroom pending a full investigation.
The child attends Harmony Elementary at 10625 Green Lake Drive.
