BEXAR COUNTY -- A tow truck driver changing the tire of a pickup was killed Friday evening along the eastbound lane of Interstate 10 at Trainer Hale Road.
Authorities said an 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound when the driver struck the tow truck driver as he finished changing the tire of a Ford pickup truck.
Upon impact, the 18-wheeler's driver ran his truck into the median and it suddenly burst into flames.
Emergency officials administered CPR on the tow truck driver, but their attempts were unsuccessful.
Officials closed the roadway for several hours in order to clean up the fiery debris.
