Crews worked to clean up lumber that was scattered on I-10 after an east-side accident.

Investigators say the driver of an 18-wheeler lost control near FM 1516 at around 2 a.m. Friday.

The driver, 40-year-old Juan Castro of Nuevo Laredo, told police he heard a loud bang and thought he had a blowout. He said his rig jackknifed across the main westbound lanes of I-10.

Castro's trailer tipped over releasing a load of  lumber onto the highway.

Moments later, a pick-up truck and a car driving on I-10 crashed into the trailer.

The driver of the car, 23-year-old Joshua Reding, was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be rescued using the Jaws of Life.

He was taken to SAMMC in stable condition . No one else was hurt.
