Maybe you thought you were mistaken? No. The eastbound entrance ramp to Loop 1604 from Stone Oak was schedule to close Monday morning, but it was postponed to Monday evening. So, reroute your commute, or expect major delays.
And you might as well get used to it. The Alamo Regional Mobility Authority says the ramp will be closed for four weeks so that foundation work and drilling on highway columns can be done.
Alamo RMA suggests those wanting to head east on Loop 1604 from Stone Oak should go through the Loop 1604/ Hwy. 281 intersection and enter Loop 1604 after the Gold Canyon intersection.
They are also giving drivers a heads-up about future closures, too. They say the Loop 1604 westbound and eastbound main lanes will be closed Friday, March 30 from 10 p.m. to Monday, April 2 at 5 a.m.
According to authorities, the Loop 1604 westbound main lanes will be closed from the Hwy. 281 exit ramp to the entrance ramp east of Stone Oak.
They are planning to close the Loop 1604 eastbound main lanes from the Hwy. 281 exit ramp to the Gold Canyon entrance ramp.
The construction that is taking place in the area will complete the connector between Loop 1604 West to Hwy. 281 South. So, while it will be a headache for now, it promises to make a mostly painless thoroughfare in the future.
