Congress wants answers. A team of U.S. representatives turned up at Joint Base San Antonio: Lackland on Tuesday to learn more about one of the biggest scandals in U.S. military history.
Representatives Loretta Sanchez, Susan Davis and Jackie Speier toured the base and met with top officials, including the recently appointed head of training Col. Deborah Liddick.
The representatives also met with victims.
"This could have been here for awhile. Everyone was afraid to bring it up that know about it. We really learned a lot that we can take back and figure out what kind of programs and what kind of checklists we need to have in place," said Rep. Sanchez, a Democrat from California and a member of the House Armed Services Committee.
The representatives will suggest to investigators to look as far back as 2002, which could lead to more victims coming forward.
As many as 44 alleged victims have come forward since the scandal first came to light last December.
