SAN ANTONIO - From a sixth floor office window, Cal Lewis noticed something was amiss in the parking lot below.
As Lewis watched, a man revered his vehicle into a spot, got out and broke into a blue Chevrolet Camaro, stealing the car's radio.
From six floors away, Lewis couldn't stop the crime, but what he could do was capture the events on his BlackBerry, video he later turned over to the police.
For officers, the growing number of people like Lewis with camera phones is providing a new stream of evidence in many crimes.
Officers say people are now coming forward with videos and pictures of crimes in action.
Police say while the video and pictures are helpful, residents should never directly approach criminals in the act; instead they should gather as much information as possible and then call the police.
