San Antonio - Samuel Hurd III, 27, was arrested this afternoon by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at a local YMCA in San Antonio without incident. An arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court in Dallas, where it is alleged that Hurd violated the conditions of his bond previously set by the Court.
Task force officers determined that Hurd was visiting with a family member near the downtown area of San Antonio. Task force officers initiated surveillance and subsequently observed Hurd departing and driving his vehicle to a local YMCA. Hurd was immediately arrested and taken into custody as he exited his vehicle.
Samuel Hurd III, former wide receiver for the Chicago Bears, was arrested last December in the parking lot of a suburban steakhouse in Chicago. Hurd was indicted on two counts for allegations involving conspiracy and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.
Hurd was released on a $100,000 cash bond pending trial on October 9, 2012. It is alleged that Hurd violated the conditions of his bond by submitting a positive urine specimen which tested for use of marijuana.
