LIVE OAK COUNTY -- The body of a man found in Live Oak County last Sunday has been identified as a 31-year-old man from Guatemala.

Sheriff Larry Busby said the name of the deceased man is being withheld until family members can be notified.

A passerby near US 281 south and I-37 stumbled upon the body late Sunday night.

Deputies said it appears the man was an undocumented immigrant who was dumped on the side of the road after he died during transport.

"We work a lot of the back roads looking for this type of thing and we have a number of pursuits," said Sheriff Larry Busby. "They try to avoid the major highways and the cities, if possible, it's the farm-to-market roads."

This is the third body found in Live Oak County over the past two years. Most of the bodies are dumped in a busy location where they're sure to be found.

"It didn't appear to be any kind of foul play, no trauma to the body," Busby said. "They wanted them to be found... They knew they'd be taken into custody if they we're there."
