A man in his late teens or early 20s is accused of kicking out a window in a police car.
The officer was summoned for help at an area Walgreen's parking lot in the 4700 block of W. Commerce and General McMullen.
A woman there reported the suspect was demanding money from her and her husband.
Police arrested the man, but he had other ideas in mind, kicking out the patrol car window to escape.
The officer pursued him and, after a struggle, was able to subdue the suspect.
Flying glass from the broken window injured the female officer.
Sgt. Michael Garcia said fortunately the officer was wearing sunglasses.
The suspect claimed he was hurt and was taken to a hospital.
He faces charges of resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
