NEW BRAUNFELS - A New Braunfels police officer made an unbelievable discovery in the back of a pick-up truck launching a multi-county, multi-agency murder investigation.
It all stemmed from a traffic stop made Wednesday night in New Braunfels along Interstate-35 near the Prince Solms exit.
After questioning the two men in the truck, the officer searched the vehicle and found a body.
“You don't know what each traffic stop will bring," said Hays County Deputy Mike Thielen. “We don't like to use that word routine, because they are not.”
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office said it believes the body is connected to a murder investigation it’s been working on.
The two men in the truck have not been charged with any crime but are being held in Hays County.
The victim’s body was sent to the state's medical examiner in Austin to be positively identified.
