An incident that started as an armed car theft in Castle HIlls ended in a police chase on San Antonio's west side.

Castle Hills police said a man armed with a shotgun walked up to a man at the Jack in The Box in the 2200 block of Northwest Military HIghway around midnight Friday morning. He demanded the man's car and then took off in it.

San Antonio police spotted the stolen black Ponitac G-5 on the city's west side, but the driver refused to stop.

He finally pulled over and took off running on foot.

Police, a K-9 unit and Blue Eagle scouted the area for a short time. The suspect was found hiding in a shed behind a home on Hildalgo Street.

The shotgun was not recovered.

Castle Hills police said the suspect is facing charges of theft, armed robbery and evading arrest.
