The Floresville City Council met Thursday morning for the first time in more than a month, since two council members stopped showing up for meetings.

Mario Morones and John Guerrero say the reason they were no-shows is because Mayor Daniel Tejada is pushing for a $2.1 million sports complex.

Without their vote the Council can’t get it approved.

Morones and Guerrero say they have priorities other than Little League fields and they want the mayor to let the citizens vote on whether or not to go forward with the complex.

"Let the citizens decide what they want and not let the mayor push it down their throat,” says Guerrero.

The mayor says they have other matters to deal with that aren’t getting taken care of. So he filed a lawsuit to get the two council members back.

Morones asked during the morning session how much it cost the city to file the lawsuit.

The mayor dropped the lawsuit just before it was to be heard Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
