LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A Texas atheist has dropped his lawsuit protesting a museum's decision to euthanize two mules, stuff and display them, saying the judge's Christian faith means he cannot be impartial.
Patrick Greene of San Antonio on Oct. 2 sued the president of the board of directors of the American Museum of Agriculture in Lubbock.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (http://bit.ly/Sj4RXT ) on Tuesday reported Greene's motion says he saw references to Christianity in an online biography for Judge Ruben Reyes. Greene says he doesn't believe Reyes could be impartial in the case.
Message left for Reyes and with the museum were not immediately returned Wednesday.
Museum attorneys have said the mules were at least 28 years old, not strong enough for work and faced being sent to Mexico for slaughter if not euthanized for the exhibit.
