AUSTIN -- The Austin City Council voted Thursday morning to expand the Austin City Limits Music Festival to two weekends.
Festival organizer C3 Presents brought its case to the council in hopes of making the festival last six days instead of three in 2013. ACL will now be held over two consecutive weekends in October.
"From a park perspective it keeps the park busy, but yes, we have to watch out for our neighbors and friends," said Austin Parks Director Sara Hensley.
During the council meeting, officials also looked at a $385 million bond package. It could include money to repair roads, build libraries and improve low-income housing. Council members are hashing out the details of the bond proposal, and it could include money to improve facilities at Barton Springs Pool.
A measure to ban the sale of alcohol at a convenience store near Reagan High School was taken off the council agenda Thursday morning.
