SAN ANTONIO -- A $1,000 reward is now being offered to find a missing 69-year-old woman.
Maria Jesus Llamas suffers from Alzheimer's disease and was last seen at the Poteet Flea Market on Sunday, Nov. 20. Her son-in-law, Abel Orta, said Maria's husband had checked out a pair of boots and when he turned around, Maria was gone.
Orta said store cameras showed Maria leaving the property. He said she has never wandered off like this before for an extended period of time.
"She's very disoriented. She didn't have her cell phone. She didn't have her money. Her sense of direction is off. At this point, we don't know if she would really know her way home," said Orta.
Sunday around 2:30 a.m., Orta said a nurse who was on her way to work thought she spotted Maria near Buena Vista and South Zarzamora Street.
"She got to work. It fit the description. She read the flier and she really fit it," said Orta.
Orta said their search efforts are concentrated in the area of Buena Vista and South Zarzamora, but crews have also expanded the search out to Poteet. People have brought their ATV's, horses, a drone and several bikes to help the family. The Heidi Search Center is also assisting in the search.
"We're going to continue and search for her. We're going to stay motivated till she gets home," said Orta.
Maria was wearing a black sweater with a white shirt underneath, black pants, black shoes and a black satchel. If you have any information, call San Antonio police at 210-207-7660, the Heidi Search Center at 210-650-0428 or Orta at 210-836-5774.
