SAN ANTONIO - Just days after protestors demanded the release of a 10-year-old girl detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents after her emergency gallbladder surgery in Corpus Christi, Rosa Maria was released back to her family.
Congressman Joaquin Castro released a statement Friday afternoon saying Maria is back where she belongs.
"This young girl and her loved ones have been through a traumatizing ordeal. I wish them the best, and hope Rosa Maria’s health improves."
Castro also blasted the Trump Administration for 'callous actions' stating the U.S shouldn't be a place where those seeking major surgery should be subject to apprehension.
Earlier this week protesters began demanding Maria's release from border patrol agents for the 'sake of humanity'.
